Nail fungus laser treatment

Onychomycosis is one of the most prevalent nail disorders in adults, where conventional topical therapy is often protracted and in most cases ineffective. On the other hand, systemic/oral therapy is not suitable for all patients and might be associated with relevant side effects. Therefore, laser therapy can be used as an alternative to or extension of existing treatment protocols.

Using Berylas 1064nm wavelength easily treat and eradicate nail fungus in patient with onychomycosis(e.g derniatophytes Trichophyton rubrum and T. mentarophytes, and/or yeasts Candida albicans, etc.).
The laser radiation penetrates the nail plate, the paronychium and the eponychium as it reaches the infected nail bed, the laser energy is only absorbed by the pathogens in the nail bed and not in the surrounding tissue. As a result, the increase in temperature will damage the cell wall causing the cells to die and inhibiting further growth.

How long the treatment last?
Depending upon the size of the nail,typically takes 1-3 minutes per nail or 15-20 minutes to treat all 10 nails. The laser beam is continuously in motion over the targeted area during the treatment. Dependning upon the severity of the nail fungus.up to 3 treatment sessions at 6-8 week intervals maybe necessary.
