Product Detail
Origin:
HU58® is a Bacillus subtilis strain isolated from the gastro-intestinal tract of humans and has been intensively studied and officially owned by Royal Holloway® University of London, United Kingdom.
The trade mark HU58® has been registered at te National Office of Intellectual Property of Vietnam. ANABIO® R&D JSC has acquired an exclusive license from Royal Holloway® University of London for production and commercialization of the HU58® strain.
Product:
+ Powder form: Living spores of HU58®: 1x109 spores/gram, or 1x1011 spores/gram (dense concentration)
+ Solution form: Living spores of HU58®: 1x109 spores/ml, or 1x1011 spores/ml (dense concentration)
1. Bacillus subtilis HU58® was isolated from human intestine thus very family with the human.
2. Pure spores (HU58®) can be added to baked foods, chocolate, yoghurt, alcohol, beverages, etc, endless possible combinations.
3. Spores are stable at room temperature (up to 45oC) and very robust, can survive for ever.
4. Can be provided in aqueous solution enabling rapid dispersion in the GI tract and enhanced probiotics effect.
5. No other manufacturer supplies pure spores, this is proven from QC testing of existing products.
6. Scientific research on HU58® is good and supports use.
Safety:
Bacillus subtilis has commonly been used in traditional foods in Japan for thousands of years and is considered safe for human consumption. In Europe it is designated QPS (Qualified Presumption of Safety) and in the USA as GRAS (Generally Regarded As Safe). Bacillus subtilis has been proven to be safe and without any side effects at the dose up to 1010 spores per day (Hong et al., 2008). Thus, HU58® has been characterised by researchers at Royal Holloway University of London who have examined both safety aspects an natural gut residencey (Hong et al., 2009).
In the line with European and US guidelines proposed bythe FAO/WHO (FAO/WHO, 2002), EFSA (European Food Safety Authority, EU) and the FDA (Food and Drug Administration, USA) HU58® is characterised at the strain level rather than at the species level, providinga higher integrity to our product. Therefore, HU58® is a new probiotic strain that is:
+ Safe as defined at the strain level
+ Characterised at the strain level
Functions:
In traditional foods, species of Bacillus subtilis are well known for their ability to produce and secrete enzymes such as amylses and proteases. In addition, Bacillus subtilis has other potential health benefits including anti-coagualtion (Arima et al., 1968), enhancing the immunological system (Huang et al., 2008), and helping to prevent urinary tract infections in the elderly (Meroni et al., 1983)... HU58® used as functional food could therefore provide a source a these beneficial bacteria and enzymes to the human intestinal tract, thereby helping to prevent digestive disorders, especially after long periods of antibiotic treatment.
Mechanism of function:
Current studies have shown that HU58® is ont of the only strain of Bacillus subtilis identified so far, that can form spores, germinate into vegetative cells, and grow in the anaerobic conditions of the human gastro-intestinal tract (Tam et al., 2006, Hong et al., 2009), thereby being able to create and maintain a useful microbial flora in gut. This is particularly important for users of antibiotics since the following and during antibiotic treatment the resident population of gut microbes is significantly reduced. To replace these bacteria the consumption of harmless bacteria helps prevent some of the common symptoms associated with antibiotic therapy (for example, diarrhea, constipation and intestinal cramps). When used orraly, spores of HU58® are extremely stable in the acidic conditions (<pH4) of the stomach. As such they can transit the stomach unscathed after which they can germinate in the small intestine and grow...
Oral supplementation of living spores could therefore provide a useful supply of beneficial bactoria for gut health, aiding nutrition and potentially stimulating the immune system. HU58® is a safe bacterium and this bacterium will not produce any toxins or substances that are deleterious to health.
Storage:
As HU58® spores are heat-stable and the product is almost 100% pure spores (>99.99%). Since spores are stable at room temperature and at temperatures up to 80oC this product can be stored indefinitely at room temperature, unopened.
Indication:
Prevention and assistance in treatment of digestive disorder and anorexia.
Dose:
From 1x109 to 1x1010 spores/day depending on weight of users and status of diseases.
Expiry date:
24 months after date of production (if stored as directed)
