Rivaroxaban&nbsp;is&nbsp;a&nbsp;pure&nbsp;(S)-enantiomer.&nbsp;It&nbsp;is&nbsp;an&nbsp;odorless,&nbsp;non-hygroscopic,&nbsp;white&nbsp;to&nbsp;yellowish&nbsp;powder.&nbsp;Rivaroxaban&nbsp;is&nbsp;only&nbsp;slightly&nbsp;soluble&nbsp;in&nbsp;organic&nbsp;solvents&nbsp;(e.g.,&nbsp;acetone,&nbsp;polyethylene&nbsp;glycol&nbsp;400)&nbsp;and&nbsp;is&nbsp;practically&nbsp;insoluble&nbsp;in&nbsp;water&nbsp;and&nbsp;aqueous&nbsp;media.<br />
In&nbsp;those&nbsp;with&nbsp;non-valvular&nbsp;atrial&nbsp;fibrillation&nbsp;it&nbsp;appears&nbsp;to&nbsp;be&nbsp;as&nbsp;effective&nbsp;as&nbsp;warfarin&nbsp;in&nbsp;preventing&nbsp;nonhemorrhagic&nbsp;strokes&nbsp;and&nbsp;embolic&nbsp;events.[4]&nbsp;Rivaroxaban&nbsp;is&nbsp;associated&nbsp;with&nbsp;lower&nbsp;rates&nbsp;of&nbsp;serious&nbsp;and&nbsp;fatal&nbsp;bleeding&nbsp;events&nbsp;than&nbsp;warfarin&nbsp;though&nbsp;rivaroxaban&nbsp;is&nbsp;associated&nbsp;with&nbsp;higher&nbsp;rates&nbsp;of&nbsp;bleeding&nbsp;in&nbsp;the&nbsp;gastrointestinal&nbsp;tract.<br />
Rivaroxaban&nbsp;is&nbsp;a&nbsp;morpholine&nbsp;and&nbsp;thiophene&nbsp;derivative&nbsp;that&nbsp;functions&nbsp;as&nbsp;a&nbsp;FACTOR&nbsp;XA&nbsp;INHIBITOR&nbsp;and&nbsp;is&nbsp;used&nbsp;in&nbsp;the&nbsp;treatment&nbsp;and&nbsp;prevention&nbsp;of&nbsp;DEEP-VEIN&nbsp;THROMBOSIS&nbsp;and&nbsp;PULMONARY&nbsp;EMBOLISM.&nbsp;It&nbsp;is&nbsp;also&nbsp;used&nbsp;for&nbsp;the&nbsp;prevention&nbsp;of&nbsp;STROKE&nbsp;and&nbsp;systemic&nbsp;embolization&nbsp;in&nbsp;patients&nbsp;with&nbsp;non-valvular&nbsp;ATRIAL&nbsp;FIBRILLATION,&nbsp;and&nbsp;for&nbsp;the&nbsp;prevention&nbsp;of&nbsp;atherothrombotic&nbsp;events&nbsp;in&nbsp;patients&nbsp;after&nbsp;an&nbsp;ACUTE&nbsp;CORONARY&nbsp;SYNDROME.
